Diedreich von Lehe is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from The Citadel in 1983 and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1986.

After graduating law school, Diedreich served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1987-1994 as an F/A-18 Hornet fighter pilot. He completed two deployments to the Western Pacific (WESTPAC) and earned numerous flight qualifications, including certification as a Mission Commander and Air Combat Tactics Instructor (ACTI). On January 14, 1991, Diedreich had the distinction of being the first Marine Corps aviator to make an arrested landing aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). Diedreich continued service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve with assignments including fighter pilot; Air Officer and Executive Officer of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Training Assistance to the Marine Corps (TAMACOR) for urban warfare training; and Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer, Marine Barracks Washington, DC. In 2008, he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

From 1994-1996, Diedreich served as a staff attorney with the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office. Since 1996, Diedreich has been a sole practitioner and concentrates in criminal defense and serious personal injury cases in both State and Federal Courts. He has obtained not guilty jury verdicts for citizens accused of crimes ranging from driving under the influence (DUI) to murder and effectively represented those seriously injured as the result of the negligence of others.

Diedreich has a special interest in defending DUI cases and has completed intensive certification training on the DataMaster DMT (the breath test device currently utilized by the State of South Carolina) at the factory of the manufacturer, National Patent Analytical Systems, in Mansfield, Ohio. He has also completed the same training as law enforcement officers in the administration of the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST’s) at both the practitioner and instructor levels. Diedreich has also received training in NHTSA’s Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) program.

Diedreich holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell as the result of being ranked by his peers at the highest level of professional excellence. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars on various topics including the use of computer technology, the utilization and integration of experts in the case, and ethics, and he has made presentations to attorneys in South Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana, California, and Nevada.

Diedreich served as the city prosecutor for the City of Folly Beach, South Carolina for more than ten years. He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, the Charleston County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the South Carolina Association for Justice, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National College for DUI Defense. He is licensed to practice in the State of South Carolina, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
